2025 - GCAC ANNUAL JURIED SHOW
It is my great pleasure to announce that my painting, Shores of the Georgian Bay no 1, was awarded First Place Winner in the Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture (GCAC) 2025 Annual Juried Show. I am truly humbled and honoured to be presented with this award. My gratitude goes to the GCAC, the jurors, and the amazing group of artists who participated. The theme of the show was 'Home' and I have included the artist statement I submitted with the piece below:
This painting is part of a series, which I call the Impermanence Series. In this series, I wanted to explore the underlying geometry in nature, as well as the ephemeral nature of all things, capturing a ‘moment-in-time’ where the elements (wind and water) are affecting and creating an ever-changing landscape. I superimposed my own layer of geometry (lines, shapes and shading) suggesting the passing of time, but also affirming in a subtle way, the presence of the observer. This piece expands the concept of ‘Home’ to a larger scale, such as our surrounding landscape or even our planet.
2024 CLEARWATER PLEIN AIR PAINTING EVENT
In July of 2024, I participated in the Plein Air Paiting event at the Clearwater Farm, it was a beautiful event, with a lot of amazing talent. We painted outdoors for 2 days, and at the end of the 2 days, we all had to do a painting in 2 hours or less. I chose a view of the red barn, flanked by one of the greenhouses. My painting won 4th place.
2024 - GEORGINA PAINTED PERCH EVENT
In the summer of 2024, for fun, I entered the 2024 Georgina Painted Perch event. There are several categories where people can entered their artwork, including Adult 3D, Adult Painted, Kids and Buisiness among them. The vote comes from the visiting public, and my mechanized perch won 4th place.
